african hip-hop

Is Hip Hop African music or not? This is a question that has provided the most elusive answers yet as the music take the entertainment industry on the continent by storm. Malawi is slowly responding to hip hop music but does the genre have any place in this country? In the article Malawian Hip Hop: crying out for attention? hip hop came out of, its root origins are from soul&funk music.soul&funk music carries the enscence of african music.In otherwords all the popular music you here today came out of slaverly and slaves were from africa so hiphop surely is of african descent.therefore no qestion such as that one need not be asked.

I agree with you that on some level, these many different genres of music are basically African.

But on another level, hip-hop definitely started in New York and didn't come to Africa until later.
