For reasons I'm not going to get into, I've actually been thinking a lot about Gil Scott-Heron's classic spoken word piece, The Revolultion will not be Televised. In some ways, it is very very dated but you still have to respect the significance it had in its time, and the influence it has had on hip-hop (especially "conscious" hip-hop) in the present day.

I would definitely agree. I really dig that album and some of his older stuff. Too bad the brother fell off.
Yeah, youtube also had a interview with him on BBC. at first it came off a bit rude.. but i think british interviewers just tend to be more into finding dirt and asking difficult questions while in the us i think we are probably more used to fluff interviews on talk shows being done as part of publicity tours.
He was asked difficult questions about drug use and other issues and did about as well as could be expected.
