Islam is at the heart of an emerging global anti-hegemonic culture that combines diasporic and local cultural elements, and blends Arab, Islamic, black and Hispanic factors to generate "a revolutionary black, Asian and Hispanic globalization, with its own dynamic counter-modernity constructed in order to fight global imperialism. (say what!)
I think Damali Ayo has come up with a spectacular "in your face" approach to talking a about race and racism in America! Although I have not read her book yet I did catch her Bookreading on C-Span. The woman is BRILLIANT! I have been on a sliding scale I racism within my young life here on Earth. I beleive mand of my most racist moments are within the confines of the "Policcally Correct" scenearios. She really does point out a lot of those idiosyncrasies that the quintessential "White folk" tend to bring out! This was just a subject I've recently touched on with other colleagues. I find the book is alluding to being absolutely hilarious because it's true. I don't believe her book and it concept is derogatory in any way like I'm sure others have or will. She is progressive in her work and I intend to support her efforts in what she's doing. I haven't read the book yet but I'm on my way to the store to snatch a book up! I'm glad she's really taking "the bull by the horns." I'm looking foward to more from Damali!
I caught a little bit of her bookreading on C-Span last night as well. I really like what she's been putting out there. I'm also looking forward to seeing and hearing more from her.
