Islam is at the heart of an emerging global anti-hegemonic culture that combines diasporic and local cultural elements, and blends Arab, Islamic, black and Hispanic factors to generate "a revolutionary black, Asian and Hispanic globalization, with its own dynamic counter-modernity constructed in order to fight global imperialism. Asalamu 'alaykum, Did you find any? I was wondering the same thing when I was staying with my family in Florida. I will be in Miami this weekend, iA. What masjid do you suggest for jummah?
There are some Shadhilis who follow Sidi Muhammad al-Jamal. They are nice people, mostly recent converts to Islam so it is a different vibe than what I'm used to.
In terms of masjids I haven't really shopped around enough to recommend a place. i typically would either go to the Flagler masjid (with many Indo-Paks and Latinos) or Masjid al-Ansar (followers of Warithdeen Muhammad).
I recently found out about Darul Uloom Florida which has weekly dhikr (Thursday) on their schedule so I imagine that they are more Sufi-friendly than other mosques. But I haven't actually checked them out yet.
