venezuela (and bolivia) cut ties with israel over gaza attacks

AP: Bolivia breaks Israel ties, claims Gaza genocide

I'm actually a bit surprised that more countries haven't done something similar. Sometimes I feel like I live on a different planet from everyone else.

You do, you live on Planet Grenada.

I joined the Progressive Blog Alliance years ago and every so often I check out other blogs on the roll. This is one such time.

Your blog actually tops what is otherwise an alphabetically ordered list. Fine with me because it's a good read but it is further evidence that Planet Grenada might really be another planet.

This idea of more states cutting ties with Israel is a toughie. Suppose America hitches Israel into many of its projects. So if America pledges a certain thing to, say, Panama and Panama accepts, America might get Israel to deliver whatever the thing happens to be. If Panama still accepts then when Israel misbehaves - its entire structure is misbehaviour but when it really obviously misbehaves- and Panama is offended, Panama can't sever ties, or it won't get delivery of the thing. Apparently among the aid that America gives to Israel is aid aid. Yes, aid aid. It gives Israel aid to give aid. That's another way Israel can co-opt other states into its on-going criminality.

Another thing is that states, possibly by their nature, are inherently nasty and it matters not a jot to most whether Israel is a militaristic colony or not.

Anyway, who do you think might have been expected to cut ties with Israel if they were happy to have ties in the first place?
