Salam.
Its a good book, I read it in one night, when I bought it. I didn't know they had translated it, though the translation seems weack based on the link you provide (translating haram as sacred!!).

The original french title is 'Qu'Allah bénisse la France' (May Allah bless friends) which is a good play on those who thinks Muslims are the enemys of the french republic.
Man I remember in 94 buying NAP's first EP at the time Abd'al Malik was called King Malik... this book is really interesting and I feel connected to a lot of what he describes, I had similar experiences and feelings in my path to Islam and in regards of music.

Malik is in a weird place sometimes in the french media, because he can sometimes be perceived as a soft uncle tomish muslim... Anyway Abdal Malik is good artist and good guy.

Salams,

Just a tiny correction 'Qu'Allah bénisse la France' is translated as 'May Allah bless France'.
Probably just a typo :)
I agree with you the translation is going to leave a lot to be desired if they think haram means sacred!
I'd like to read it though - I wonder if I should try the original French...
