Islam is at the heart of an emerging global anti-hegemonic culture that combines diasporic and local cultural elements, and blends Arab, Islamic, black and Hispanic factors to generate "a revolutionary black, Asian and Hispanic globalization, with its own dynamic counter-modernity constructed in order to fight global imperialism. "my pride is racist people say, but no one minds st. patrick's day"
I haven't heard this song, or seen this video in a very long time. But given today's date it seemed appropriate. The song is called "Split Personality" from a group called Basehead.
i can take it or leave it... st. patrick's day... the song itself was basically about the contradictions of being a person of color in america. that's where "split personality" comes in.
It is kind of funny how "everyone" becomes Irish. But I'm not sure that other groups would want the same kind of thing done to/for them. Do Chicanos want other folks to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, for instance?
