Basically, recently elected Muslim Congressman (takbir!) Keith Ellison announced that he would take his oath of office on a Quran instead of a Bible. And Dennis Prager, who apparently is advocating for America as a homogeneous Bible-based culture, seems to have a problem with it. In every other sentence of his tirade Prager alternates between displaying deep misunderstanding of Islam, the US Constitution, freedom of religion, American history and the nature of extremism.

Thank you for sharing this -- I wasn't aware of this new controversy. I thought they'd given Ellison enough trouble already, and now even after being elected! Prager's article is seriously the most ridiculous thing that I've read recently.
I was waiting on a post from you on this though I expected something a bit more meaty. Anyway it goes to show just how stupid some "citizens" are here.
Sondjata: yeah, I was actually thinking about getting more into Prager's piece and going line by line but then I realized that on average I literally disagreed with every other sentence and so a thorough rebuttal would be much longer than the original article.
Actually, this morning I was thinking of including a link to stuff about the Treaty of Tripoli which explicitly states the US is in no sense a Christian nation.
In the back of my mind I was also thinking of writing a little about the nature of extremism. Maybe I'll add those in the near future whne I get my thoughts together more.
well you know I LOVE line by line disections. Maybe I'll post on it because there is an angle I wanted to hit on, specifically the recent passing of "tougher" citizenship laws and tests and it's relation to a citizenry who really appear to not have a clue about the US constitution itself.
