I was thinking the same thing myself (about who does the writing). I would guess the speech writers could do it. Or given the format, maybe they take solicitations from all the campaign workers.
In terms of how "safe" it was, I was actually a bit surprised. Obama's AIG joke was slightly "risky". I would have expected something tamer from them this close to the election.
I am suprised Sen McCain and his wacky campaign didn't try to use this opportunity to say that Sen Obama is really a member of the NOI since he was "caught" wearing a bow-tie. LOL.
I wonder who writes there jokes? They sure do keep it very safe...but its good to see them not so serious...
